COMMUNITY BUILDING USE

Building Use

St. Thomas loves sharing our building located at 276 South College Ave in the heart of Newark, DE. With several spaces to choose from, diverse groups use our building regularly and for one-time occasions. Our meeting spaces host Scouts, AA, Al-Anon meetings, student study groups, and business professional networking events.

The large Great Hall, with an adjacent kitchen, is perfect for receptions, showers, and other celebrations, as well as larger meetings, lectures, and presentations. Currently, the UD Ballroom Dance Team and the Newark Scottish Dancers meet in that space for classes and workshops open to the public. Our sanctuary is ideal for musical performances and poetry readings. During the school year, St. Thomas, in collaboration with the English Department of UD, brings in monthly poet performances in the Poets’ Corner series, as the sanctuary is equipped with cameras and microphones for live streaming and recording. In addition to indoor spaces, we offer the use of the large grove on the corner of S. College and Park Place, as well as the well-kept lawn immediately in front of the church building. The grove always open to the community for casual use, but for larger events, please coordinate with the church office. We’ve hosted outdoor movie nights, picnics, and dog meet-ups in these spaces, just as examples.
