Sunday School

Welcome to St Thomas Children’s Ministry 2023-2024!! We are very excited about our plans to come together as a ministry and as a community of “wondering believers”. And we hope that many new and old friends will join us this year.

Our mission in Children’s Ministries remains the same: to give our children a safe, loving place to discover and experience the living and present God. We strive to give our children new and exciting ways to discover more about God and who God is calling to them to be.

Family Church Sundays: Every last Sunday of the month will be family Church Sunday. On these
days, children will attend the full service with their families. On these days, families will be
invited to fulfill service roles in the church. A SignUp Genius will be available beginning in
October for families to sign up to serve together. Training will be available as needed.

For more info, visit Children's Ministry at our website: Children’s Ministries – St. Thomas's Episcopal Parish (stthomasnewarkde.church) or contact Belinda Young-Payne at St. Thomas’s by phone at (302) 388-4017. or via email at belmar43@aol.com.

UD Ballroom Dancers- public class

Meets in the Great Hall

Classes are $15 for students and $35 for non-students (for the whole four-week session).

What if I have no dance experience?
Don't worry, most people are beginners. We tailor each class to fit the level of the participants.

What do I wear?
Any comfortable clothing will do. We do ask that you wear comfortable shoes that are securely attached to your feet. Anything that has a tendency to slip off is potentially dangerous. For women, heels are alright if you are comfortable in them, but under 3" is preferred. If you don't feel comfortable wearing heels, flats or sneakers are fine.

How do I register for a public class?
Just show up 10 to 15 minutes early for the first class of the session. The beginning of each session can be found on the calendar. We will ask you to submit your payment and fill out a short contact information sheet for our records in case of emergency cancellations.

If I come with a partner will I be dancing with him/her the entire time?
We encourage rotation of partners during class because it helps the learning process; however, it is not required.
Meets in the Great Hall.

The religious experience can, and sometimes does, stretch the limits of what we call rational. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). And Bible stories have a full measure of visions, angelic visits, demonic possessions, disembodies voices, miracles- much that seems strange to us.

What should we as 21st century people make of these Bible stories? Were the people in them mentally ill, or having a genuine experience of the Devine? Can both be true? And what does that tell us about our current understanding of faith, mental health, and the Church's responsibility to those who see/hear/feel/interact with the world differently?

Join us to consider these and other questions about how thoughts, feelings, religion, and social norms converge, clash, and maybe even come to live together in peace.
