Meets in the Music Room.

St. Thomas’s provides hospitality to many outside/groups which work themselves to promote the health, education, and service needs of the wider community. Every Friday an Al-Anon Group meets here. Members start with the question: “How can I help my problem drinker quit drinking?” Meetings are on Fridays at 12 noon in the Undercroft. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something to help someone they care about with his or her drinking problem.

All are welcome. St. Thomas’s is a diverse community of young and old, different races, languages, and nationalities, cradle Episcopalians and those new to our tradition. We are conservative and liberal, single and married and partnered, socially active, spiritually reflective, deeply committed to being the Gospel in our community, our diocese, and our world. Our parish strives to be a safe and inclusive community of worship that welcomes everyone as a child of God, and values everyone’s ministry in the Church and the world.

We are a competitive ballroom dance team and club hailingfrom the University of Delaware. We compete against many universities fromacross the United States including NYU, Columbia, Purdue and University ofMichigan. Along with competing we also host public classes in order to shareour love of ballroom with the community.Public classes are typically offered Sunday and Tuesdaynights from 7:00 pm till 8:00 pm. Classes are taught by advanced teammembers in four week sessions at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 276 SouthCollege Avenue. Parking is available in the church’s parking lot which isaccessible from South College Avenue.

Our 2018 Rector search has begun. A search committee has been formed and we will work with our vestry, diocese and outside consultants to reach our goal in calling a new rector.

Our Heavenly Creator, who has blessed this dedicated church family for 175 years serving our community in your faith and love. We ask for guidance for our Parish, Search Committee and Vestry as we embark on the journey to mutual ministry with our next Rector. Under the AA umbrella are groups for teens and family members of the addicted to help them in supporting their loved one’s sobriety. Alcoholic Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

The Musikgarten classes offered at Newark Music Makers are designed to nurture the child’s music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice,and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Additionally,instrumental activities are part of the program, ranging from playing simple rhythm instruments such as sticks and drums for babies and toddlers to playing keyboards for older children.

Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns through group piano instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music.

As you familiarize yourself with our class offerings and learn more about Musikgarten,we look forward to answering your questions and welcoming your family into our music studio.

Dusk Patrol is an AA alcohol recovery group open to all those who identify as women. Alcohol Anonymous (AA) is an international mutual aid fellowship whose stated purpose is to "enable members to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety."
