Meets in the Classroom. St. Thomas’s provides hospitality to six AA/12 Step Groups. Serenity at Sunrise is an apt name for this group as they meet at the beginning of the day, 6:30 a.m. to be exact. Under the AA umbrella are groups for teens and family members of the addicted to help them in supporting their loved one’s sobriety. Alcoholic Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

All are welcome. St. Thomas’s is a diverse community of young and old, different races, languages, and nationalities, cradle Episcopalians and those new to our tradition. We are conservative and liberal, single and married and partnered, socially active, spiritually reflective, deeply committed to being the Gospel in our community, our diocese, and our world. Meets in the Parlor. Starting on October 1, the Adult Education group began to explore the People of the Way: Renewing Episcopal Identity by Dwight Szcheile. The discussion aims to explore the ways St. Thomas can move into the future beyond these walls as we share our story of God. The book can be easily purchased online via Amazon, B&N or any bookstore. We are a competitive ballroom dance team and club hailingfrom the University of Delaware. We compete against many universities fromacross the United States including NYU, Columbia, Purdue and University ofMichigan. Along with competing we also host public classes in order to shareour love of ballroom with the community.Public classes are typically offered Sunday and Tuesdaynights from 7:00 pm till 8:00 pm. Classes are taught by advanced teammembers in four week sessions at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 276 SouthCollege Avenue. Parking is available in the church’s parking lot which isaccessible from South College Avenue.

Meets in the Great Hall. Scottish Country Dancing is a wonderful pastime and is great exercise for mind and body. Although originating in Scotland, you will find clubs and classes in most countries around the globe. Scottish Country Dancing is very much a social activity and, unlike many other types of dancing, dancers are encouraged to dance with different people, so that couples who do come along, will dance mostly with other dancers and it is therefore most definitely not a requirement to come to a class with a partner. We are a friendly group of dancers and give a warm welcome to new members!

The Musikgarten classes offered at Newark Music Makers are designed to nurture the child’s music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice,and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Additionally,instrumental activities are part of the program, ranging from playing simple rhythm instruments such as sticks and drums for babies and toddlers to playing keyboards for older children.

Musikgarten is the only program that offers curricula for newborns through group piano instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music.

If you or anyone you know is food insecure and cannot provide ample nutrition for themselves, please come to the student food closet any Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. at St. Thomas's Parish located at 276 S. College Ave. (directly across from Student Health).

We have collected many donated food products that we will hand out to those students in need. All that we ask is you bring your student ID for verification and then we will provide you with whatever amount of food you are in need of.

Episcopal Campus Ministry (ECM) is a place to explore and live spirituality in community with other students, faculty, staff and parishioners. We meet every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. No topic is off limits and everyone is welcome! Through service projects, regional and national events and weekly gatherings, we connect to the world and one another. There’s always food and fun, time to worship and time to just hang out. Sunday worship at St. Thomas’s is at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. ECM enjoys dinner on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The Episcopal Church welcomes you!

Meets in the Great Hall. South College Speakers is an AA meeting for young people who are battling alcohol addiction. Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship whose stated purpose is to enable its members to "stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety." It was founded in 1935 by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith in Akron, Ohio. With other early members, Bill Wilson and Bob Smith developed AA's Twelve Step program of spiritual and character development. AA's initial Twelve Traditions were introduced in 1946 to help the fellowship be stable and unified while disengaged from "outside issues" and influences.
