During the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Thomas’s is alive and well. We are worshiping via live streaming on YouTube (See our YouTube Channel and hit Subscribe!). The full-text bulletins for our services can be found on our website, and by email request. We also continue to respond to the needs of the Newark community through our collaboration with the Newark Empowerment Center and others. Those who would like to support our work may do so by going to our “Giving to St Thomas’s” page. Our prayers are with all those who are ill, all who are caring for them, and all who are striving to hear the voice of God in these challenging times. May God bless you and keep you, now and always. Sunday, December 20 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM | In-Person Drive/Walk-Through Communion and PrayersOn the four Sundays of Advent 2020 (November 29th, and December 6th, 13th, and 20th), the Eucharist will be available in front of the church portico from 10:00 a.m. (or the end of the 9:00 service) until 11:00 a.m. The formalities will be simple – we will read the confession, I will offer absolution, and we will read the Lord’s Prayer (from a card to be provided), and then the Host will be offered as we do presently in church – in small plastic cups. Masks and hand sanitizer will be in use. The normal assumption will be that those coming to receive the Eucharist will have attended the 9:00 a.m. service virtually. 276 S College Ave, Newark, DE 19711, USA (276 S College Ave, Newark, DE 19711, USA) |
Sunday, December 20 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Lessons and Carols for AdventThe Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century and has long been a St. Thomas’s tradition. In this service, we listen to nine Scripture lessons and each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson’s message and a brief prayer.
