In-Person Drive/Walk-Through Communion and Prayers

On the four Sundays of Advent 2020 (November 29th, and December 6th, 13th, and 20th), the Eucharist will be available in front of the church portico from 10:00 a.m. (or the end of the 9:00 service) until 11:00 a.m. The formalities will be simple – we will read the confession, I will offer absolution, and we will read the Lord’s Prayer (from a card to be provided), and then the Host will be offered as we do presently in church – in small plastic cups. Masks and hand sanitizer will be in use. The normal assumption will be that those coming to receive the Eucharist will have attended the 9:00 a.m. service virtually.

Property Committee

The monthly property committee is meeting by phone or Zoom on usually the first Thursday of the month at noon. The Property Ministry sees to the upkeep and maintenance of our building and grounds. Members work on projects as complex as replacing the roof to as simple as changing a light bulb. This group also coordinates the annual parish clean up. Our grounds are maintained and beautified by volunteers who mow the lawn or tend to the gardens.Contact Amy Keach for the Zoom link for the meetings as it changes each month.

Christian Ed- Ordinary Virtues: Spirituality in the Lord of the Rings

Nearly everyone knows something about Middle Earth, the rich fantasy world that emerged from the imagination of JRR Tolkien.  Fewer people know that Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and that his stories and characters have much to say about his view of the faithful life.

In this short (3-week) series, we will be guided through the religious landscape of Middle Earth by Mark Eddy Smith's book Tolkien's Ordinary Virtues: Exploring the Spiritual Themes of the Lord of the Rings.  Come along for some clips from Peter Jackson's LOTR movies, and stay for some spirited discussion of what Frodo and Gandalf and even Sauron (the villain of the stories) teach us about living and moving and having our being in God.
