Women’s Retreat interest requested

posted in: Women's fellowship | 0

Why do people need a retreat?
Because: It’s hard to hear God’s voice above the hubub of everyday life.

Faith is contagious and we need each other for faith to spread. Being together encourages us to “love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). Worshiping, praying, and learning with our siblings in Christ makes us stronger.

If you are interested in spending time in reflection, renewal, fellowship, and connecting with and listening for what God may have planned for you, then let us hear from you. We are imagining a retreat for women of all ages at Memorial House in Rehoboth Beach.

To express your interest, please email either of the individuals listed below:
Sheridan Quarless Kingsberry, sqkingsberry1@verizon.net
Caroline Coolidge Brown, mail@CarolineCBrown.com

If sufficient interest is expressed, a retreat will be planned for Winter 2022. When you respond, please indicate:
Your first and last name.
The name of your parish.
Your age range (20-30, 50-60, etc.)
Whether you would prefer a weekday or weekend retreat.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Good morning ladies of St Thomas!  Thank you for all of your replies regarding our gathering this month.  Based on your feedback, we will plan to gather on the front lawn (just like June).  In the event that it is over 85 degrees, or rainy, etc., I will email you no later than Tuesday morning with a ZOOM invitation.

ALL ladies are Welcome to join in the fun!  Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 6 p.m.

Bring your own drinks, snacks, bug spray, fan, and lawn chair/blanket

Please bring your mask for those moments when we can’t stand to stay more than 6 feet apart.

I’m really looking forward to seeing some of your beautiful faces next Tuesday!

August 2020 Ladies’ night IN or OUT?

posted in: Women's fellowship | 0

Ladies, once again I’m asking for your opinions.  I’d like to gather in two Tuesdays, August 25, 2020, for our August Ladies’ Night.  The weather looks to be high 70s in the evening hours, with only a 10% chance of rain.  That sounds lovely to me!  But, you know what they say about weather predictions…

My feeling is that we schedule a Ladies’ Night OUT on the lawn, as we did in June.  If the weather changes, we can then move it to a ZOOM meet up.  I want to know what you think.

Also, please let me know if you have any ideas for activities or games.  Although, honestly I come for the chatting, lol.  I look forward to celebrating our sistership- in person or virtually!

Sts. Thomas and Nicholas Ladies’ Night OUT in the Grove

posted in: Women's fellowship | 0

Thursday, June 18.2020 at 6 p.m., ALL the Ladies are Welcome to join in the FUN!  The plan is to maintain safe social distance by setting up our lawn chairs/blankets 6′ from each other.  Please bring your own drinks and snacks, and meet in St. Thomas’s Grove.

We will be outside and will maintain social distancing due to COVID-19, but please do bring a face cover just in case. Also, in the event of light rain, we can still gather in the portico.  If it’s really coming down, we will have to reschedule.  I’ll email updates if the weather gets iffy.

The last two Ladies’ nights over Zoom have been hilarious and very uplifting.  I cannot wait to feel that amplified when we get to meet in person!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this gathering.  I hope to see many of us in person next Thursday evening!

Ladies’ Night IN on Monday, May 18, 2020

This Monday, May 18, 2020 at 6 p.m., we will have another Ladies’ Night IN!  Ladies, please send email to the parish office at StThomassOffice@googlegroups.com requesting your ZOOM invitation.

I am looking forward to seeing your faces and sharing some laughs.  My wish is that in the next few months, we might be able to set up lawn chairs in the lawn, maybe 10 feet apart, and enjoy each other’s company in person.  Until we can safely meet in person, let’s plan to continue Ladies’ night IN once a month. ?

Carpenter’s Helper newsletter for April 19, 2020

posted in: News, Women's fellowship | 0

Happy Friday! See this week’s Carpenter’s Helper newsletter.  for April 19, 2020. In it you will find two messages from our Bishop, Rt Rev Kevin.  He explains a bit about the liturgy of the Word, and then gives us an update on the actions of the diocese during this unusual time.

Ladies, I hope to see all of your beautiful faces at our ZOOM Ladies’ Night IN, tonight at 6 p.m. Here is the ZOOM meeting; if it asks for a password, it’s thomas with a lowercase t.  If you have any problems getting in, please text me 302.354.3277, and I’ll try my best to help.  Can’t make it tonight?  It looks like we will have another opportunity to do this in May, and I for one am excited! (saving on that babysitter $$$).

Novel Theology is planning a ZOOM meeting for their May 2020 get together.  The book is Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, and is available for free as a download from the New Castle County Public Library.  This looks like a good read.  Please look for more details about this ZOOM get together as we get closer to May 2020.

This ZOOM tutorial is not bad, and gets interesting at around the 3:25 mark.  Do you have a tutorial you recommend?  Are you more of a fan of Go To Meeting, Google Hangout, or Facebook Skype?  Please share your experiences and recommendations.  I’ve been having the best time playing games with family and friends on the Houseparty app: it has games like pictionary, cards against humanity, and charades.  Anyone want to play?  I miss you all and look forward to furthering my virtual hangout skills this month so I can see more of your faces.

Kind Regards,
Cana Hartman, Parish Administrator
