A heartfelt Thank You from Deacon Cecily

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, we gathered in the Grove for some delicious food and LOTS of FUN to celebrate Deacon Cecily’s retirement.

Deacon Cecily Sawyer Harmon officially retired in January 2022; however, because of Covid precautions, we were unable to give her the send off she deserves. But, now that the weather has warmed up, we are able to gather in the Grove for a proper PARTY!

See Deacon Cecily’s heartfelt thank you note.

Worship and weekly news – July 3, 2022

Hello faith family! This is the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost – July 3, 2022, Year A.

There is no Carpenter’s Helper weekly newsletter this week. I’m working hard on a new updated format, and look forward to sharing it next week.

It looks to be a pretty quiet upcoming week for our parish.

  • Fr Howie is away, so this Sunday we will be welcoming Rev Peter Van Horne.
  • There will be no Wednesday noon service on July 6, 2022.
  • The office will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2022, in observance of Independence Day, however I will be checking email, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any needs.
  • The third issue of our sexton, Kenneth’s blog “The Libra Reader”.  He pulls no punches in his book reviews and there is a serious variety, so if you are looking for your next summer reading, this blog is a good source of inspiration.

Worship this Week:

Services are held in-person with precautions and online via our YouTube channel. Please do not hesitate to contact the office or Fr. Howie with any questions or concerns about these options. We are listening to the experts and considering how to best keep our faith family safe.

Our Worship schedule continues through the Summer 2022.

This week’s Sunday Schedule:

Other Parish Events:

In this strange pandemic time, the church is aware that some of its members are struggling to make ends meet. If you are in this situation, please let the clergy know of your needs, pray for the church, and feel no guilt about your giving. But if you are able to give, options for giving include mailing a check to your church or online giving.

If you have anything to add to the Parish calendar or the Carpenter’s Helper newsletter, please email the office at StThomassOffice@googlegroups.com.

To see worship, events or news, see our website, FaceBook, InstaGram, YouTube, or the posted events on the board next to the name tag station. Recent Newsletters, Sermons, or Announcements are also available.

Regardless of whether we are together in-person or virtually, we are connected by the Holy Spirit:  Always together; never apart…maybe in distance, but never in heart.

Dear Families of St. Thomas’s and St. Nicholas,

Next Monday, June 20, 2022 is our opportunity to serve at Hope Dining Room. For the first time since before the pandemic, we will be “Dining In”  instead of serving “Grab and Go”.

I have divided the “Helper” section into 2 shifts:
10 – 11:30  a.m.    for  Cooking and Set Up
11:30 – 1:30 p.m.  for Serving and Clean Up

This is a terrific opportunity to serve some people who REALLY appreciate it!   It always makes me feel good!

We begin cooking at 10 a.m. at Kingswood Methodist Church on Marrows Road in Brookside Park. Bring an apron and a ball cap.

See the Sign Up Genius for things and people we need.  Father Howie is making his famous secret recipe cake for our guests!!!

You may bring your donations of fruit cups to St. Thomas’s on  Monday – Thursday between 9-noon OR when you come to church on Sunday! If you can’t make those times, give me a call or an email and I will pick them up at your house.

Many Blessings to you all,

Madeline Johnson     Mad1240@comcast.net
